Notes

Attached by string to the clasp is a handwritten paper label which reads: "The cover of this book is made of Tanned Skin of the Negro whose Execution caused the War of Independence".
Leaves are very thick, possibly card.
Title devised by cataloguer.
Copy 1 Acquired by a purchasing agent of Henry Wellcome in 1929 from Stevens auction house. Manuscript inscription on recto of first leaf: "Mr Thos Laurence, No 260 Kent St., Borough, London". On verso written in manuscript are election returns dated 1786.
