Paper bag, possibly from the late 1930s advertising Bile Beans, "obtainable everywhere in penny twists and 6d., 1/3 and 3/- packs". These were a popular product which seems to have counteracted constipation and indigestion. Other publicity for it claims they also cure rheumatism, female ailments (menstrual problems), liver troubles, gout and piles. The beans were to be taken nightly and were of pure vegetable origin. The bag shows a young woman with 2 collie dogs. She is holding their leads in the left hand and about to throw a ball with her right. The bag is printed in red and dark blue on white paper.
