Segment 1 Violent flames are seen against a black background; a man is chiselling something. John Hurt's voice is heard saying that AIDS is a deadly virus that can be passed on to a man or woman from anyone who is infected. The man is revealed to be chiselling 'AIDS' into the surface of a black monolith. The monolith falls to the ground, and the government-produced leaflet, 'AIDS Don't Die of Ignorance' drops onto it, followed by a bunch of white flowers.
