The true story of the Elephant Man.

A documentary film narrated by John Hurt. The film compares the true history of John (Joseph) Merrick, with the fictional film version based on his life, T̀he Elephant Man', starring John Hurt as John Merrick (1980) The documentary also re-examines the evidence in an attempt to establish the true nature of the illness which led to the John Merrick's deformities. There is also a re-examination of the evidence which led to the diagnosis of neurofibromatoses in the 1960's and Proteus Syndrome in the early 1980's.
