About this work

Description

This print, by an artist who was also a historian, represents an incident in 1494, when Lodovico Sforza invited the King of France to visit him. The young man dying in bed is the rightful Duke of Milan, deposed by Lodovico in 1480 and imprisoned ever since. Perhaps the dedication of the print was intended as a warning to the new King of the Hellenes, who was deposed in 1862
