Iean Theophile Desaguliers. Doct. en droit, pretre de l'eglise anglicane, chapelain du Duc de Candos, et membre de la Soc. Roy.le de Londre, prof. de phil. experimentale, né en 16. Gravé à Paris par E. Desrochers rue du Foin pres la rue S. Jac. Lettering continues with six engraved lines of French verse: Si le docte Desaguliers / Par tout l'univers se signale / Aprouver des faits singuliers / Par science experimentale: / C'est qu'estant philosophe et de fet et de nom, / Il contente à la fois l'esprit et la raison.
